حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْبَيْلَمَانِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَابَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِيَوْمٍ قَبِلَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَهُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آخَرَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَابَ إِلَى اللَّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِنِصْفِ يَوْمٍ قَبِلَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَنِيهَا رَجُلٌ آخَرُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَابَ إِلَى اللَّهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِضَحْوَةٍ قَبِلَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَهُ رَجُلًا آخَرَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُغَرْغِرَ نَفَسُهُ قَبِلَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Asbat told us, from Hisham ibn Sa'd, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Baylamani, from one of the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Whoever turns to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in repentance a day before he dies, Allah accepts it from him. He then related this account to another man among the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Did you hear this from him yourself? He said: Yes. He said: Then I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever turns to Allah in repentance half a day before he dies, Allah accepts it from him. He then related it to yet another man among the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Did you hear this? He said: Yes. He said: Then I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever turns to Allah in repentance a short while before he dies, Allah accepts it from him. He then related it to yet another man among the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Did you hear this from him? He said: Yes. He said: Then I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever repents before his soul reaches his throat in the death rattle, Allah accepts it from him.
