حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ قَدْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمِ الَّذِي إِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى وَإِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Malik ibn Mighwal: 'Abdullah ibn Buraydah narrated to us, from his father, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, heard a man saying, 'O Allah, I ask You by virtue of my bearing witness that You are Allah, there is no god but You, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was begotten, and there is none equal to Him,' and he said, 'He has indeed asked Allah by the Greatest Name of Allah, which, if He is asked by it, He gives, and if He is called upon by it, He answers.'
