English Translation
Al-Aswad ibn 'Amir narrated to us: Abu Isra'il informed us from Harith ibn Hasirah from Ibn Buraydah from his father, who said: He entered upon Mu'awiyah, and a man was speaking, so Buraydah said: "O Mu'awiyah, permit me to speak." He said: "Yes," thinking that he would say something like what the other man had said. So Buraydah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'I hope to intercede on the Day of Resurrection for as many as the number of trees and clods of earth on the ground.'" He said: "Do you hope for that, O Mu'awiyah, while 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, does not hope for it?"
