حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَزْرَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ حَدَّثَنَا عِلْبَاءُ بْنُ أَحْمَرَ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ ثُمَّ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَخَطَبَنَا حَتَّى حَضَرَتْ الظُّهْرُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَخَطَبَنَا حَتَّى حَضَرَتْ الْعَصْرُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَخَطَبَنَا حَتَّى غَابَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَحَدَّثَنَا بِمَا كَانَ وَمَا هُوَ كَائِنٌ فَأَعْلَمُنَا أَحْفَظُنَا.
English Translation
Abu 'Asim narrated to us: 'Azrah ibn Thabit narrated to us: 'Ilba' ibn Ahmar al-Yashkuri narrated to us: Abu Zayd al-Ansari narrated to us, he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in the dawn prayer, then ascended the pulpit and delivered a sermon to us until the noon prayer time came in. Then he came down and prayed the noon prayer, then ascended the pulpit again and delivered a sermon to us until the afternoon prayer time came in. Then he came down and prayed the afternoon prayer, then ascended the pulpit and delivered a sermon to us until the sun set, and he told us of what had been and what would be. So the most knowledgeable of us was the one who retained it best.
