English Translation
Rib'i ibn Ibrahim narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiyah, from Ibn Abi Dhubab, from Sahl ibn Sa'd, who said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, raise his hands while supplicating, whether on the pulpit or elsewhere; whenever he supplicated he would only place his hands level with his shoulders and point with his finger in a gesture. Hashim narrated to us: Abd al-Aziz — that is, Ibn Abi Salamah — narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi, from Asim ibn Adi, who said: Uwaymir, a man from Banu Ajlan, came to him and said: "O Asim, what do you think of a man who finds another man with his wife — should he kill him, and would they then kill him in retaliation, or how should he act? Ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about this for me, O Asim." So Asim asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about that, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked such questions and found fault with them, until it became a serious matter to Asim because of what he heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. And he mentioned the same meaning as the hadith of Malik, except that he said: "So he divorced her before the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had commanded him," and he said: "So his separating from her became the established practice for those who undergo mutual imprecation."
