English Translation
'Ubaydah ibn Humayd narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay' narrated to me, from Mujahid and from Ibn Abi Qatadah, from Abu Qatadah, who said: I was with a group of the Prophet's companions (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and they were in ihram except for one man. He spotted some game, took a whip, and charged at it and caught it. He ate from it and we ate. Then we took provisions from it. When we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we said: 'O Messenger of Allah, such-and-such person was not in ihram, and he caught some game. He ate from it and we ate with him, and we have some of it with us.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to them: 'Eat.' Ya'qub narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from Ibn Ishaq, Ma'bad ibn Ka'b ibn Malik narrated to me, from Abu Qatadah al-Harith ibn Rib'i, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent us toward the seacoast during one of his 'Umrahs to Makkah, and promised to meet us at Qudayd. We set out, some of us in ihram and some not. I was not in ihram - and he mentioned the hadith. He said: And in it: 'This foreleg - I have roasted it and cooked it thoroughly and made it good.' He said: 'Bring it then.' So I brought it to him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bit into it while he was in ihram until he finished it. Ya'qub narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, 'Abdullah ibn Abi Salamah, the freed slave of Banu Tamim, narrated to me, from Abu Muhammad Nafi' al-Aqra', the freed slave of Banu Ghifar, from Abu Qatadah, a similar narration to the hadith of Ma'bad ibn Ka'b, neither adding nor subtracting.
