حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَاذَانَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Abidah, from 'Abdullah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then will come people whose testimony will precede their oath and whose oath will precede their testimony." Ibrahim said: 'They used to beat us for bearing witness and making pledges while we were children.'
