حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ مَوْلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخٌ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا قَالُوا هَذَا سَهْلُ ابْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ.
English Translation
Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, Salim ibn 'Amir al-Khabayiri and Abu al-Yaman narrated to me, from Kawthar ibn Zufar, from 'Abdullah ibn Hawalah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It will happen that you will be (divided into) recruited armies: an army in al-Sham, an army in Yemen, and an army in Iraq." 'Abdullah said: 'Choose for me, O Messenger of Allah, if I reach that time.' He said: "You must go to al-Sham, for it is the best of Allah's lands, to which He attracts the best of His servants. And if you refuse, then go to your Yemen and drink from your water sources. For Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has guaranteed al-Sham and its people for me."
