حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أَنَّهَا شَهِدَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ جَمْرَةِ الْعَقَبَةِ وَالنَّاسُ يَرْمُونَ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْ لَا تُهْلِكُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَارْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ أَوْ الْجَمَرَاتِ بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَذْفِ وَأَشَارَ شُعْبَةُ بِطَرَفِ إِصْبَعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwas, from his mother: that she witnessed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Jamrat al-Aqaba while the people were stoning, and he said, "O people, do not kill — or do not destroy — yourselves, and stone the jamrah, or the jamarat, with pebbles the size of a flicked stone," and Shu'ba pointed with the tip of his index finger.
