حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَدَبَّسِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَظُنُّهُ أَبَا خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْزُوقٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ قُمْنَا قَالَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي فَلَا تَقُومُوا كَمَا يَفْعَلُ الْعَجَمُ يُعَظِّمُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا قَالَ كَأَنَّا اشْتَهَيْنَا أَنْ يَدْعُوَ لَنَا فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَارْضَ عَنَّا وَتَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا وَأَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ وَنَجِّنَا مِنْ النَّارِ وَأَصْلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Mis'ar, Abu al-Adabbas told us, from a man -- I think he was Abu Khalaf -- Abu Marzuq told us, who said: Abu Umamah said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us, and when we saw him we stood up. He said: "When you see me, do not stand as the foreigners do, exalting one another." He said: It was as though we wished he would supplicate for us, so he said: "O Allah, forgive us, have mercy on us, be pleased with us, accept from us, admit us into Paradise, save us from the Fire, and set right all our affairs."
