حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ تَدْنُو الشَّمْسُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى قَدْرِ مِيلٍ وَيُزَادُ فِي حَرِّهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا يَغْلِي مِنْهَا الْهَوَامُّ كَمَا يَغْلِي الْقُدُورُ يَعْرَقُونَ فِيهَا عَلَى قَدْرِ خَطَايَاهُمْ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ إِلَى كَعْبَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ إِلَى سَاقَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ إِلَى وَسَطِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يُلْجِمُهُ الْعَرَقُ.
English Translation
Al-Hasan ibn Sawwar told us, Layth ibn Sa'd told us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Salih, that Abu Abd al-Rahman told him, from Abu Umamah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The sun will draw near on the Day of Resurrection to the distance of a mile, and its heat will be increased by such-and-such; the vermin will boil in it as pots boil; people will sweat according to their sins -- among them some whose sweat reaches to his ankles, some to his shins, some to his waist, and some whom the sweat bridles."
