English Translation
Abu al-Mughirah told us, Safwan told us, Rashid ibn Sa'd told me, from Asim ibn Humayd, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent him to Yemen, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out with him to give him instructions, with Mu'adh riding and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, walking beneath his mount. When he had finished, he said: O Mu'adh, perhaps you will not meet me after this year of mine, or perhaps you will pass by this mosque of mine, or my grave. Mu'adh wept out of grief at parting from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then he turned, facing towards Madinah, and said: The people closest to me are the God-fearing, whoever they are and wherever they are.
