English Translation
Abu al-Yaman told us, Shu'ayb told us, from al-Zuhri: 'Umarah b. Khuzaymah al-Ansari told me, that his uncle — who was one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him — told him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, bought a horse from a bedouin, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him to follow him so he could pay him the price of his horse. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, walked quickly while the bedouin lagged behind, and men began to intercept the bedouin, bargaining with him over the horse without realizing that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had already bought it, until some of them offered the bedouin more than the price for which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had bought it. So the bedouin called out to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "If you want to buy this horse, buy it, otherwise I will sell it." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up when he heard the bedouin's call and said: "Have I not already bought it from you?" The bedouin said: "No, by Allah, I did not sell it to you." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Yes indeed, I have bought it from you." The people began to gather around the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the bedouin as the two of them went back and forth, and the bedouin kept saying: "Bring a witness who will testify that I sold it to you!" Whoever came from among the Muslims would say to the bedouin: "Woe to you, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would say nothing but the truth" — until Khuzaymah came and listened to the exchange between the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the bedouin. The bedouin kept saying: "Bring a witness who will testify that I sold it to you!" Khuzaymah said: "I testify that you did indeed sell it to him." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned to Khuzaymah and said: "On what basis do you testify?" He said: "On the basis of believing you, O Messenger of Allah." So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made the testimony of Khuzaymah equivalent to the testimony of two men.
