حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي ذَرٍّ لَوْ أَدْرَكْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَسَأَلْتُهُ قَالَ وَعَمَّا كُنْتَ تَسْأَلُهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ هَلْ رَأَى رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ نُورٌ أَنَّى أَرَاهُ.
English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun told us: Yazid ibn Ibrahim told us: Qatada told us: Abdullah ibn Shaqiq told us, he said: I said to Abu Dharr: "If I had met the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I would have asked him." He said: "About what would you have asked him?" I said: "I would have asked him whether he saw his Lord, Mighty and Sublime." Abu Dharr said: "I did ask him, and he said: 'Light — how could I see Him?'"
