قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ مِثْلَ أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَهِيَ مَقْسُومَةٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِي وَلِعَبْدِي مَا سَأَلَ.
English Translation
'Abdullah said: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn Numayr told me -- and this is the wording of Ibn Numayr's hadith -- they said: Abu Usamah told us, from 'Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far, from al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ya'qub, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, mighty and glorious is He, has not revealed in the Torah nor in the Gospel the like of Umm al-Qur'an; it is the seven oft-repeated verses, and it is divided between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he asks for."
