حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَفِي الْعَصْرِ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ وَفِي الصُّبْحِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ.
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite in the noon prayer "By the Night as it Envelops" and the like, and in the afternoon prayer similarly, and in the dawn prayer something longer than that.
