حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي نَعَامَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ سَمِعَ ابْنَهُ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْقَصْرَ الْأَبْيَضَ عَنْ يَمِينِ الْجَنَّةِ إِذَا دَخَلْتُهَا فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ سَلْ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى الْجَنَّةَ وَعُذْ بِهِ مِنْ النَّارِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَكُونُ قَوْمٌ يَعْتَدُونَ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَالطَّهُورِ.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad and Affan told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from al-Jurayri - and Affan said in his hadith: al-Jurayri informed us - from Abu Nu'amah, that Abdullah ibn Mughaffal heard his son say: "O Allah, I ask You for the white palace at the right side of Paradise when I enter it," so he said: "O my son, ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Fire, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'There will be a people who transgress the limits in supplication and in purification.'"
