English Translation
Asbat b. Muhammad narrated to us: Ash'ath narrated to us, from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Bakra, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice upon a she-camel of his. He said: He began speaking here at one point and there at another, before each group of people. Then he said: "What day is this?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." Then he said: "What month is this?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: Then he said: "Is it not Dhu al-Hijja?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." Then he said: "What land is this?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: Then he said: "Is this not the Sacred Land?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "Then indeed your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you until you meet your Lord, the Exalted, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours." Then he said: "Let the one among you who is present convey it to the one absent, for perhaps the one absent will be more mindful of it than the one present."
