حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ خَرَجْتُ فِي جَنَازَةِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ رِجَالٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ يَسْتَقْبِلُونَ الْجِنَازَةَ فَيَمْشُونَ عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ وَيَقُولُونَ رُوَيْدًا بَارَكَ اللَّهُ فِيكُمْ قَالَ فَلَحِقَنَا أَبُو بَكْرَةَ مِنْ طَرِيقِ المِرْبَدِ فَلَمَّا رَأَى أُولَئِكَ وَمَا يَصْنَعُونَ حَمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِبَغْلَتِهِ وَأَهْوَى لَهُمْ بِالسَّوْطِ وَقَالَ خَلُّوا فَوَالَّذِي كَرَّمَ وَجْهَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِنَّا لَنَكَادُ أَنْ نَرْمُلَ بِهَا وَقَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Yahya b. Sa'id narrated to us, from 'Uyayna: My father narrated to us, saying: I went out for the funeral of 'Abd al-Rahman b. Samura. He said: Some men from his family began to walk ahead of the bier facing backwards, walking on their heels and saying: "Gently, may God bless you." He said: Abu Bakra caught up with us from the road of al-Mirbad, and when he saw them and what they were doing, he charged at them upon his mule and swung his whip at them, saying: "Get out of the way! By the One who honored the face of Abu al-Qasim, peace and blessings be upon him, I have indeed seen us with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, almost breaking into a brisk pace with it." Yahya said once: "I have indeed seen us with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him."
