English Translation
'Abd al-A'la and Rib'i b. Ibrahim narrated to us — the sense being the same — both saying: Yunus narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Bakra, who said: The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and he rose in haste, dragging his garment, until he reached the mosque, and the people gathered, and he prayed two rak'as. Then it cleared, and he turned to us and said: "The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of God, Blessed and Exalted; He frightens His servants by means of them, and they are not eclipsed for the death of anyone." He said: And his son Ibrahim, peace be upon him, had died. "So when you see anything of this from either of them, then pray and supplicate until what has befallen you is lifted." Khalaf b. al-Walid narrated to us: al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Bakra, that he told him, saying: The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while we were with him, and he leapt up in alarm, dragging his garment, and he related the like of its meaning.
