English Translation

Muhammad b. Abi 'Adiyy narrated to us, from Ibn 'Awn, from Muhammad — meaning Ibn Sirin — from 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakra, from Abu Bakra, who said: When that day came, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sat upon a camel, and a man took hold of its rein or halter. He said: "What day is this day of yours?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "What month is this month of yours?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: "Is it not Dhu al-Hijja?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "What land is this land of yours?" He said: We fell silent until we thought he would call it by other than its name. He said: "Is this not the Sacred Land?" He said: We said: "Yes indeed." He said: "Then indeed your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred among you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Let the one present convey it to the one absent, for the one present may convey it to one who is more mindful of it than himself." Muhammad said: A man then said: "That indeed came to pass."
