حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ يَعْنِي الْأَشْيَبَ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُشَيْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُرْوَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُشَيْرٍ أَبُو مَهَلٍ الْجُعْفِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ وَإِنَّ قَمِيصَهُ لَمُطْلَقٌ قَالَ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلْتُ يَدِي فِي جَيْبِ قَمِيصِهِ فَمَسِسْتُ الْخَاتَمَ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَلَا ابْنَهُ قَالَ وَأُرَاهُ يَعْنِي إِيَاسًا فِي شِتَاءٍ قَطُّ وَلَا حَرٍّ إِلَّا مُطْلِقَيْ إِزَارِهِمَا لَا يَزُرَّانِ.
English Translation
Hasan — meaning al-Ashyab — and Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, both saying: Zuhayr narrated to us, from 'Urwa b. 'Abdullah b. Qushayr, from Mu'awiya b. Qurra, from his father. Abu al-Nadr said in his narration: Zuhayr narrated to me: 'Urwa b. 'Abdullah b. Qushayr, Abu Mahal al-Ju'fi, narrated to us: Mu'awiya b. Qurra narrated to me, from his father, who said: I came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, with a group from Muzayna, and we gave him our pledge of allegiance while his shirt was loose and untied. He said: We gave him our pledge, then I put my hand inside the neck-opening of his shirt and touched the seal of prophethood. 'Urwa said: I never saw Mu'awiya, nor his son — I think he meant Iyas — in winter or in summer, except with their waist-wraps loose, unfastened.
