حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَهَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَكْحُولٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَوَالَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ جُنْدٌ بِالشَّامِ وَجُنْدٌ بِالْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ فَخِرْ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ ثَلَاثًا عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ فَمَنْ أَبَى فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِيَمَنِهِ وَلْيَسْقِ مِنْ غُدُرِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ تَكَفَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِيَمَنِهِ.
English Translation
Abu Sa'id, client of Banu Hashim, and Hashim ibn al-Qasim told us, they said: Muhammad ibn Rashid told us: Makhul told us, from Abdullah ibn Hawalah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be an army in Syria and an army in Yemen." A man said: "Choose for me, O Messenger of Allah, if that happens." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep to Syria, keep to Syria" - three times - "keep to Syria; whoever refuses, let him go to his Yemen and draw water from its pools, for Allah, Blessed and Exalted, has taken it upon Himself to guarantee Syria and its people for me." Abu al-Nadr said: [he said] twice: "let him go to his Yemen."
