حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَن الْحَسَنِ عَن سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِينَةٌ لِعَقِيقَتِهِ تُذْبَحُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ وَيُحْلَقُ وَيُدَمَّى.
English Translation
Affan told us: Hammam told us: Qatadah told us, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "Every newborn boy is in pledge for his 'aqiqah [sacrifice]; it is to be slaughtered on his seventh day, and his head shaved, and [it] smeared with blood."
