قَالَ أَبِي و حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَ الْحَسَنُ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَامُ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ وَحَامُ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ.
English Translation
My father said: and Husayn narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatada, who said: and al-Hasan narrated from Samura, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "Sam is the father of the Arabs, Yafith is the father of the Byzantines, and Ham is the father of the Abyssinians."
