حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو السَّوَّارِ الْعَدَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْحَيِّ إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ إِنَّ مِنْهُ وَقَارًا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّ مِنْهُ ضَعْفًا فَقَالَ لَهُ عِمْرَانُ أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ الصُّحُفِ.
English Translation
Yazid narrated to us, Khalid ibn Rabah Abu al-Fadl informed us, Abu al-Sawwar al-Adawi narrated to us, Imran ibn Husayn narrated to us, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: 'Modesty is entirely good.' A man from the tribe said: 'It is said in wisdom that some of it is dignity before Allah and some of it is weakness.' Imran said to him: 'I narrate to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and you narrate to me from your scrolls!'
