حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَن أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ الضُّبَعِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا وَصَفَهُ كَانَ يَكُونُ مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَتَبَ أَبُو مُوسَى إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّكَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ زَمَانِكَ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانَ أَحَدُهُمْ إِذَا أَصَابَهُ الشَّيْءُ مِنْ الْبَوْلِ قَرَضَهُ بِالْمَقَارِيضِ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى دَمْثٍ يَعْنِي مَكَانٍ لَيِّنٍ فَبَالَ فِيهِ وَقَالَ إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَرْتَدْ لِبَوْلِهِ.
English Translation
Waki' told us: Shu'bah told us, from Abu al-Tayyah al-Dubay'i, who said: I heard a man, whom he described as being with Ibn Abbas, say: Abu Musa wrote to Ibn Abbas: "You are a man of your time, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Among the Children of Israel, when something of urine touched one of them, he would cut it out with scissors.' And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by soft ground - meaning a soft place - and urinated in it, and said, 'When one of you urinates, let him seek out soft ground for his urine.'"
