English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from al-Mas'udi, from Adi b. Thabit, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa: that when Asma' arrived, Umar b. al-Khattab, may Allah Almighty be pleased with him, met her on one of the roads of Madinah, and said: "Is this the Abyssinian woman?" She said: "Yes." He said: "What a fine people you are, if only you had not been preceded in emigration!" She said to Umar: "You were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - he would carry your weak ones and teach your ignorant ones - while we fled with our religion. But I will not go back until I mention that to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him." So she went back to him and told him, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Rather, you have the emigration twice over: your emigration to Madinah and your emigration to Abyssinia."
