English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar informed us, from Sa'id al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: Abdullah b. Qays, Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, gave the greeting of peace to Umar b. al-Khattab, may Allah Almighty be pleased with them, three times, but was not given permission to enter, so he went back. Umar sent someone after him: "Why did you go back?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'If one of you gives the greeting three times and is not answered, let him go back.'"
