English Translation
Bahz and Affan narrated to us — the meaning being the same — they said: Hammad, meaning Ibn Salamah, narrated to us — Affan said in his hadith: Sa’id ibn Jumhan narrated to us, and Bahz said in his hadith: Sa’id ibn Jumhan narrated to me — who said: We were with Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa fighting the Khawarij, and a slave-boy of Ibn Abi Awfa had joined the Khawarij. So we called out to him, "O Fayruz, this is Ibn Abi Awfa." He said, "What a good man he would be, if only he had emigrated." We said, "What does the enemy of Allah say?" He said, "He says, ‘What a good man he would be, if only he had emigrated.’" So Ibn Abi Awfa said, "Emigration after my emigration with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?!" — repeating it three times — "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, ‘Blessed is the one who kills them, then they kill him.’" Affan said in his hadith: "and they kill him" — three times.
