حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِيدَيْنِ اجْتَمَعَا قَالَ نَعَمْ صَلَّى الْعِيدَ أَوَّلَ النَّهَارِ ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُجَمِّعَ فَلْيُجَمِّعْ.
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman told us: Isra'il told us, from Uthman ibn al-Mughirah, from Iyas ibn Abi Ramlah al-Shami, who said: I witnessed Mu'awiyah ask Zayd ibn Arqam: Did you witness, with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, two festivals coinciding? He said: Yes. He prayed the festival prayer at the beginning of the day, then permitted concerning the Friday prayer, saying: Whoever wishes to attend the congregational prayer, let him attend it.
