حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سِمَاكَ بْنَ حَرْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمِيرَةَ قَالَ وَكَانَ قَائِدَ الْأَعْشَى فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ فَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ وَقَالَ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمْ النَّاسَ لَمْ يَرْحَمْهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
English Translation
Rawh told us: Shu'bah told us, who said: I heard Simak ibn Harb say: I heard Abdullah ibn Amirah say — and he had been the guide of al-A'sha in the Age of Ignorance — narrating from Jarir, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: I pledge allegiance to you upon Islam. He said: So he withdrew his hand and said: And sincere counsel to every Muslim. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will not show mercy to him.
