حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمْ نَجِدْ الْمَاءَ قَالَ ثُمَّ هَجَمْنَا عَلَى الْمَاءِ بَعْدُ قَالَ فَجَعَلُوا يَسْقُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُلَّمَا أَتَوْهُ بِالشَّرَابِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ حَتَّى شَرِبُوا كُلُّهُمْ.
English Translation
Hajjaj narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to me, from Abu al-Mukhtar of Banu Asad, he said: I heard Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa say: We were on a journey and could not find water. Then afterward we came upon water. He said: They began giving the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, drink, but every time they brought him drink, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who gives the people drink should be the last of them to drink" - three times - until they had all drunk.
