حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ ثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ أَتَانَا كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَرْضِ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ شَابٌّ قَبْلَ وَفَاتِهِ بِشَهْرٍ أَوْ شَهْرَيْنِ أَنْ لَا تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنْ الْمَيْتَةِ بِإِهَابٍ وَلَا عَصَبٍ.
English Translation
Khalaf ibn al-Walid told us: 'Abbad - meaning Ibn 'Abbad - told us, he said: Khalid al-Hadhdha' told us, from al-Hakam ibn 'Utaybah, from Ibn Abi Layla, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Ukaym al-Juhani, who said: A letter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, reached us in the land of Juhaynah - he said: and I was a young boy - a month or two before his death: Do not benefit from a dead animal's hide or sinew.
