حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ وَأَظُنُّ أَنِّي قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيَّ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْسَجَةَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينَا فَيَمْسَحُ عَوَاتِقَنَا وَصُدُورَنَا وَيَقُولُ لَا تَخْتَلِفْ صُفُوفُكُمْ فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ أَوْ الصُّفُوفِ الْأُولَى.
English Translation
Harun b. Ma'ruf told us - 'Abdullah said: and I think I heard it from him - he said: Ibn Wahb told us, Jarir b. Hazim told me, he said: I heard Abu Ishaq al-Hamdani say: 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awsajah told me, from al-Bara' b. 'Azib, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to come to us and pass his hand over our shoulders and chests, saying: Do not let your rows be uneven, lest your hearts become divided. Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings upon the first row, or the front rows.
