حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ نَحَلَهُ نُحْلًا فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أُمُّ النُّعْمَانِ أَشْهِدْ لِابْنِي عَلَى هَذَا النُّحْلِ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَوَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ أَعْطَيْتَ مَا أَعْطَيْتَ هَذَا قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَكَرِهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ لَهُ.
English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us: Hisham ibn Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, that his father gave him a gift, and the mother of al-Nu'man said to him: Have witness for my son over this gift. So he went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and mentioned that to him. He said to him: Have you given the like of what you gave this one to all your children? He said: No. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked to bear witness for him.
