English Translation
Affan narrated to us: Abdul-Warith narrated to us: Ayyub narrated to us, and he mentioned a hadith, saying: and he narrated from Abu Qilabah, from a man, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he used to pray two rak'ahs, then supplicate, then pray two rak'ahs, then supplicate, until the sun cleared. He said: Some people of pre-Islamic ignorance say, or claim, that when the sun or moon is eclipsed, it is eclipsed for the death of a great person among the great ones of the earth, but that is not so - rather they are two creations among the creations of Allah, and when Allah, Mighty and Majestic, manifests Himself to something of His creation, it becomes humbled before Him.
