حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالَا عَلَى الْبَادِئِ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدْ الْمَظْلُومُ وَالْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَكَاذَبَانِ وَيَتَهَاتَرَانِ.
English Translation
Abdus-Samad narrated to us, who said: Hammam narrated to us: Qatadah narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abdullah, from Iyad ibn Himar, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The sin of the two who abuse each other lies upon whichever of them started it, so long as the wronged one does not exceed the limit. And the two who abuse each other are two devils who lie to each other and slander each other.
