English Translation
It was narrated to us by Isma'il, who said: it was narrated to us by Ayyub, from Mujahid, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Ka'b ibn Ujrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to me while I was lighting a fire beneath a cooking pot, and the lice were falling onto my face — or he said, onto my eyebrows. He said, "Is the vermin on your head bothering you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Then shave it, and fast three days, or feed six poor persons, or offer a sacrifice." Ayyub said, "I do not know with which of these he began." It was narrated to us by Affan, who said: it was narrated to us by Shu'bah, who said: al-Hakam informed me, saying: I heard Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla say: Ka'b ibn Ujrah met me, and he mentioned the hadith.
