حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ حَدَّثَنِي زِرُّ بْنُ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ وَفَدْتُ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ وَإِنَّمَا حَمَلَنِي عَلَى الْوِفَادَةِ لُقِيُّ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَأَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَقِيتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً.
English Translation
It was narrated to us by Abd al-Samad, who said: it was narrated to us by Hammam, who said: it was narrated to us by Asim ibn Bahdalah, who said: Zirr ibn Hubaysh narrated to me, saying: I set out on a journey during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan, and what drove me to make this journey was to meet Ubayy ibn Ka'b and the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. So I met Safwan ibn Assal and said to him, "Did you see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said, "Yes, and I went out on campaign with him twelve times."
