حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُؤْمِنٌ مُجَاهِدٌ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنْ الشِّعَابِ يَتَّقِي اللَّهَ وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ.
English Translation
It was narrated to us by Rawh, who said: it was narrated to us by Salih ibn Abi al-Akhdar, from Ibn Shihab, that Ata' ibn Yazid narrated to him that one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to him that he said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah, which of the people is most excellent?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A believer who strives with his life and his wealth in the path of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime." They said, "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Then a believer in one of the mountain passes, who fears Allah and spares the people his harm."
