حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَى أَبِي أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلَانِهِ مِنْ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَلَّبَ فِيهِمَا الْبَصَرَ وَرَآهُمَا جَلْدَيْنِ فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا وَلَا حَظَّ فِيهَا لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِبٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَ فَصَعَّدَ فِيهِمَا فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Hisham, he said: My father told me, that Ubaydullah ibn Adi told him, that two men informed him that they came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asking him for charity. He looked them over carefully and saw that they were sturdy, so he said, "If you wish, I will give to you both, but there is no share in it for a rich person or for one strong and able to earn." Waki' told us, Hisham told us, from his father, from Ubaydullah, who said: Two men told me that they came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He looked them over, and he mentioned the hadith.
