English Translation
Husayn told us, Yazid ibn Ata told us, from Husayn, from Zayd ibn Wahb al-Juhani, from Thabit ibn Yazid ibn Wada'ah al-Ansari, who said: We hunted some spiny-tailed lizards while we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on one of his military expeditions. The people cooked and roasted them. I took a lizard and roasted it, then brought it to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and placed it in front of him. He took a stick and began turning over his fingers with it, or counting them, then said, "A nation among the Children of Israel was transformed into creatures on the earth, and I do not know which of the creatures it is." I said, "The people have roasted [some]." He said: So he did not eat from it, nor did he forbid them from it.
