حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدِينِيَّ أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خُصَيْفَةَ عَن عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ السُّلَمِيِّ أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجَعٌ قَدْ كَادَ يُبْطِلُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى مَكَانِكَ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهَا سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ.
English Translation
Sulayman al-Hashimi narrated to us: Isma'il — namely Ibn Ja'far al-Madini — narrated to us: Yazid — namely Ibn Khusayfah — informed me, from Amr ibn Abdullah ibn Ka'b al-Sulami, that Nafi' ibn Jubayr informed him that Uthman ibn Abi al-'As came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, having been afflicted by a pain that had nearly incapacitated him, and he mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He claimed that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: 'Place your right hand on the spot where you feel pain, and wipe it seven times, saying each time you wipe: "I seek refuge in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I find."'
