Yazid told us, al-Hajjaj ibn Artah told us, from Makhul, from Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, we are people who hunt. He said: If you release your dog and mention the name of Allah, and it catches [the game] for you, then eat. I said: Even if it kills it? He said: Even if it kills it. I said: We are people who shoot with bows. He said: Whatever your bow returns to you, eat. I said: We are people who travel and pass by Jews, Christians, and Magians, and we find nothing but their vessels [to use]. He said: If you find none besides them, wash them with water, then eat and drink in them.
