حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النِّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ عَبْدًا خَرَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مِنْ يَوْمِ وُلِدَ إِلَى أَنْ يَمُوتَ هَرَمًا فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ لَحَقَّرَهُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَوَدَّ أَنَّهُ يُرَدُّ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا كَيْمَا يَزْدَادَ مِنْ الْأَجْرِ وَالثَّوَابِ.
English Translation
Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Abdullah - meaning Ibn al-Mubarak - narrated to us, he said: Thawr ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Ma'dan, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayra, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: 'If a servant fell upon his face from the day he was born until he died of old age, in obedience to Allah, he would regard that as insignificant on that Day, and would wish to be returned to the world so that he might increase in reward and recompense.'
