حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنِي نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَقُصُّوا نَوَاصِيَ الْخَيْلِ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا الْبَرَكَةَ وَلَا تَجُزُّوا أَعْرَافَهَا فَإِنَّهُ إِدْفَاؤُهَا وَلَا تَقُصُّوا أَذْنَابَهَا فَإِنَّهَا مَذَابُّهَا.
English Translation
Ali ibn Bahr narrated to us, he said: Baqiyya ibn al-Walid narrated to us, he said: Nasr ibn Alqama narrated to me, he said: A man of Banu Sulaym narrated to me, from Utbah ibn Abd al-Sulami, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Do not clip the forelocks of horses, for in them is blessing; do not shear their manes, for they are their warmth; and do not clip their tails, for they are their fly-whisks.'
