English Translation
Harun ibn Ma'ruf told us — Abd Allah said: and I think I heard it from him — he said: Ibn Wahb told us, Amr informed me that Hisham ibn Abi Ruqayyah told him, who said: I heard Maslamah ibn Mukhallad, while sitting on the pulpit delivering a sermon to the people, saying: O people, do you not have enough in flax fiber and linen to spare you from silk? And here is a man among you who can inform you from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him — stand up, O Uqbah. So Uqbah ibn Amir stood up while I was listening, and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire; and I bear witness that I heard him say: Whoever wears silk in this world will be deprived of wearing it in the Hereafter.
