حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمَّارٍ شَدَّادٌ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى كِنَانَةَ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ قُرَيْشًا وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ.
English Translation
Abu al-Mughirah told us, saying: al-Awza'i told us, saying: Abu Ammar Shaddad told me, from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa', who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah chose Kinanah from among the sons of Isma'il, and chose Quraysh from among the sons of Kinanah, and chose the Banu Hashim from among Quraysh, and chose me from among the Banu Hashim."
