English Translation
Talhah ibn Ubaydullah reported that two men from Bali came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). They had both accepted Islam together, but one of them was more devoted in striving than the other. The more devoted one went out for battle and was martyred. The other lived another year, then died. Talhah said: 'I saw in a dream that I was at the gate of Paradise. I saw them both there. Someone came out of Paradise and admitted the one who died last of the two first. Then he came out and admitted the one who was martyred. Then he returned to me and said: Go back, for your time has not yet come.' When Talhah awoke, he told the people, and they were amazed. News of this reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he said: 'What are you amazed at?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the first one was more devoted in striving and was martyred, yet the other was admitted to Paradise before him.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Did he not live another year?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'And did he not witness Ramadan and fast it?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'And did he not pray such and such number of prostrations during the year?' They said: 'Yes.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Then the difference between them is like the difference between heaven and earth.'
